Elimination disorders occur in children who have problems going to the bathroom – both defecating and urinating. Elimination disorders can be a difficult and sensitive subject for everyone involved, the carer and the child or young person. This course will look at both ‘encopresis’ and ‘enuresis’, what is normal and what isn’t, and how to support looked-after children suffering with elimination disorders.

The main learning objectives of the course are as follows:

  1. To know what an elimination disorder is
  2. To understand what normal development in children looks like
  3. To know what encopresis is
  4. To know what enuresis is
  5. To be aware of elimination disorders in looked-after children
  6. To know how to support looked-after children
